Others:
He got interested in broadcasting when he was schooling at the Koforidua Secondary Technical School. He had a small radio with which he tuned in to Joy fm to listen to programmes and learn how radio programmes were run on air. It was the Kumasi Polytechnic when he had his break to pursue his dream of being a radio presenter on the campus’ radio station. According to him, he took inspiration from Felix Vander Pallen formally of Joy fm so much that he adopted and copied his style of presentation until a colleague presenter, Kofi Eddie Ray ( now of Hello Fm in Kumasi ) advised him to be creative and be himself. After completing Kumasi Polytechnic, Desmond, though finding it difficult to get a radio station to work with, persisted and found himself at Space fm in Sunyani where he played music during lunch time. He continued to Radio B.A.R. of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in Sunyani and then moved to Radio Ghana ( GBC ) in Accra. He landed at Uniiq 95.7fm in the year 2005 and he has been there till date. The Smooth Operator who is studying Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) admitted that working at GBC was not an easy task but the environment , he says is conducive for learning and getting experience required to meet the international standards. He hopes to be one of the seasoned broadcasters in future and produce shows on both radio and television. Country music, Slow Jam, Love Zone are some of the programmes he presents on air. Desmond love Banku and Okro stew as well as motivating people wherever he finds himself.
